Armathwaite Old School Hall

The Old School Hall in Armathwaite is a cherished community hub at the heart of the village. Originally serving as the village school, the building has been thoughtfully repurposed to offer a warm, welcoming space for local groups, events, and activities. From Zumba classes and concerts to the community cafe and community meetings, the hall plays a vital role in bringing people together. With its characterful features and modern facilities, it reflects both the heritage and the evolving needs of Armathwaite’s vibrant community.

Booking

The hall provides a public space suitable for all types of events. The main hall can accommodate up to 120 people with seating for 100. It is an accessible facility with ramp access, accessible toilets and with audio loop installed.

It has a modern fully equipped kitchen. There is also a small upstairs room suitable for small groups and committee meetings.

Outside is a rear lawned garden area and beautifully restored garden with access via steps or the new bridge from the car park. There is a small car park to one side and on-street parking adjacent to the hall.

The hall is a registered charity (registration number 520337) and managed by a group of voluntary trustees.

We’re easy to find, whether you’re travelling by car, train, or on foot.

By Train
Armathwaite is serviced by a station on the scenic Carlisle to Settle railway line. The hall is just a short walk (around 10 minutes) from Armathwaite Station – simply walk down the hill towards the village centre and turn left, you’ll find us just after the church.

By Car
We’re located just off the A6 and B6413, with road links to Carlisle, Penrith, and surrounding villages.
